Jump Jam Leaders

Our school offers Jump Jam to our students as a part of our daily fitness program, in classrooms as a brain break and at a performance leavel at teh annual Goldfields Jump Jam Championships, which are held in Term 4.  Our students love Jump Jam as it is a fun way to partipicate in dance aerobics, to get their hearts pumping, develop fundamental movement skills and have great time!

Each term interested Year 6 students audition and 8 are selected as Jump Jam Leaders.  The Leaders are responsible for performing the dances each morning during Daily Fitness, working together to learn each of the routines and exciting studnets to engage them in the program.

Daily Fitness
Every morning, our students participate in 15 minutes of fitness. Students participate in the same activity for one week, before rotating on to another. Activities change throughout the year and are made up of vigorous activities that get our students huffing and puffing and help with our co-ordination.

Daily fitness benefits engagement in our morning classes, as getting the blood flowing brings oxygen to the brain, helping our students to focus. By participating daily, it helps instil healthy habits for our students to carry on later on in life. Exercise helps our students grow strong muscles and bones and puts us in a good mood for our school day. Daily fitness also complements our Health and Physical Education Curriculum by extending opportunities for developing fundamental movement skills and hand eye coordination.

Some of the activities that we love include skipping, kicking soccer balls, shooting basketballs, boot camp, dancing at Jump Jam and playing class games such as octopus, moving walls and scarecrow.
